Jack Peter Shepherd was born on 14th January1988 in Pudsey, West Yorkshire to a family with no theatrical background, his father being a council worker and his mother an estate agent. The youngest of three children, he had experience on both the stage and television with one of his appearances being with his future on-screen sister Tina O'Brien in an episode of Clocking Off in 2000. He also appeared briefly in Wycliffe in 1997.
At the age of twelve, he replaced Thomas Ormson in the role of David Platt making his first appearance in Episode 4811 on 26th April2000. As he reached his late-teens, the role expanded and took on a darker dimension with David winning various "gongs" at soap award shows such as "Best Bad Boy" and "Best Villain".

Jack Shepherd (born 29 October 1940) is an English actor, playwright, and theatre director. He is known for his television roles, most notably the title role in Trevor Griffiths' series about a young Labour MP, Bill Brand (1976), and the detective drama Wycliffe (1993–1998). His film appearances include All Neat in Black Stockings (1969), Wonderland (1999) and The Golden Compass (2007). He won the 1983 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a New Play for the original production of Glengarry Glen Ross.[1] He was also nominated for the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor in 1977.[2]

[edit]Shepherd attended Roundhay School in Leeds and then studied fine art at Kings College, Newcastle University. During his time in Newcastle he was an amateur actor with the People's Theatre. After gaining a BA he went on to study acting, first at the Central School of Speech and Drama and then as a student founder of the Drama Centre London.[citation needed] He was a talented musician also, playing in a jazz ensemble with fellow drama student, Jon Lord, later of Deep Purple and White
