The show was supposed to be a magnum opus, started by the Czarina of Indian Television, Ekta Kapoor. Zee mentioned about > employing historians and researchers for this show which really appeared in the starting. Not many of us were aware of the history of Jodha Akbar, which we began to unearth as we read more and more while watching it. Though, of late, the show has no connection with history. It has hit rock bottom, the TRP's are continuously plummeting and consequently it is out of the list of Top 10 shows. Jodha-Akbar revisits history untold
he is once again sharing screen space with Ash in Jodha-Akbar, a film on the untold love story between Mughal emperor Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar and his young Rajput wife Jodhabai. The historical epic comes from Ashutosh Gowarikar, who won critical acclaim with both Lagaan and Swades.
Set in the sixteenth century, Jodha Akbar begins with Akbar (Hrithik Roshan) being on a spree to secure lands. He's conquered the Hindukush and his reign is only increasing over foreign lands. The shrewd politician in Akbar, to subdue the aggressive Hindu Rajputs, marries their fiery princess Jodha (Aishwarya Rai), the daughter of a Hindu king Bharmal of Amer, in a politically motivated alliance. But little does Akbar realize that his marriage to Jodha will become a battle for love, when she resents him for making her a pawn in the political game. The challenge for Akbar now is to win the love of the woman he falls deeply for.
First named Akbar-Jodha, the film was renamed Jodha-Akbar to keep with the naming convention of classic love stories like Heer-Ranjha, Laila-Majnu and Shiri Farhad. When Ashutosh decided to take on Ash for the role of Jodha, he sent her an SMS saying Will you be my Jodha? She agreed and Hrithik became the other part of the equation.
