    I am a native of California but have traveled extensively.  My interest in art dates back to my childhood.  I was self-taught until college, graduated from The University of California at Davis, and also studied at the Corcoran School of Fine Art in Virginia.

    I have been married to a military officer for twenty five years and I continue my studies today through workshops and seminars as we move across the country. I travel to Europe frequently and many of my current works reflect time spent painting there.  I have been a full time professional artist for over ten years.

    My works are purchased by select clients for private collections across the United States.  In addition, I am a member of the Arlington Artists Alliance and The Montgomery Art Guild.

    Karen's works are highly collectible and hang in galleries and homes throughout the United States and Europe. Recognized and acclaimed worldwide, her work is currently on display at Gallerie Severn in Metairie, Louisiana and Tupelo Honey Cafe, Arlington, Virginia.  In addition, she was honored with the cover of the December 2014 & 2016 issues of Pink Magazine, the 2016 cover of Sasee Magazine, and  has been featured in multiple others including Art Galleries & Artists of the South, and she was honored as an EM

    Karen Tarlton was born in 1965 in Riverside, California. During childhood, her family moved frequently, finally settling in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Even as a child, Karen saw beauty in everything and spent many hours drawing and painting the world around her. In high school in 1981, she met her husband and they attended The University of California at Davis, where she took her very first art classes. Karen began her art career after her husband joined the Air Force and they travelled from city to city for 23 years. Traveling greatly influenced her art; she has painted every place they lived.

    Although painting is her passion, family is her blessing and joy. Now married for over 24 years with two gifted daughters she takes her family to every artful outing possible. Because “a thing of beauty is a joy forever,” Karen aims to create scenes which reminiscent of a special time or place in your life.
